Presenter Bio

Dr. J.P. Laine is the division leader for Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) at Draper, where he leads the development of advanced technologies and system solutions for PNT-focused efforts. Dr. Laine has held technical leadership roles on a variety of programs related to PNT, imaging, and free-space/guided wave optics. Dr. Laine is the author of many scientific papers and holds a number of patents in the field of optical sensing.

Navigation Aiding Techniques
This course will present an overview of navigation aiding technologies in the historical context. The course will start with a brief initial focus on the fundamentals of navigation and a quick description of inertial navigation systems, and then proceed to exploring a variety of aiding techniques such as velocity sensors, celestial, and GNSS.  This course is accessible to both experienced and novice practitioners.
